Navajo Lutheran Mission Installation #2: The day before Rev. Dr. Lynn Hubbard and Rev. Deborah Haffner Hubbard are installed by Bishop Steve Talmage

(Rock Point, Arizona) - The second video on the Installation of Rev. Dr. Lynn Hubbard and Rev. Deborah Haffner Hubbard at the Navajo Evangelical Lutheran Mission (NELM) in Rock Point, Arizona by Bishop Steve Talmage of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) Grand Canyon Synod.

The video begins with a special Saturday service in the mission House of Prayer to honor elders, and the original members and founders.

Former Mission Pastor Wally Cole and his wife, Fern D. Cole, sing with the congregation.

On behalf of the Grand Canyon Synod, Bishop Talmage thanks Clarence C. Begay (Navajo Translator, Chapter House President & NELM board member), Bobby Yazzie, Howard Gatewood, Ron Augustson (NELM Board Chair) and the board of directors and the many others, who over the years, have contributed greatly to the work of maintaining the school and this mission for the sake of making Christ know.

Rev. Dr. Lynn Hubbard, who sings and plays guitar, is planning a series of concerts starting in the fall of 2009 at churches and other venues in Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, Colorado, California.

The free fundraising concerts are to raise awareness about mission projects and the new Mission in Reverse model that the mission is operating under since he arrived in the Spring of 2009.

"I believe there is a need to maintain Jesus's spirit of humility in seeking to discover the bridges that can be made and even crossed between the cultures and histories that exist in this place," Bishop Talmage told those gathered for the Installation Service.
